Welcome to Berry's Chapel,
From the Elders . . .
The feeling of renewed interest within the body at Berry's Chapel was evident by the number of people present this past Sunday evening. Mike Wright did an excellent job providing leadership. It is the belief of this eldership that spiritual growth and membership involvement are so intertwined that an increase in one of these will also produce an increase in the other.
The addition of several ministry areas to meet the needs of Berry's Chapel is the result of meeting with families. The people who are leading these ministries were identified during the meeting. There will be more about this in the future. One of the new areas is called Involvement Ministry. Mark Dupay and Ron Martin are its leaders. They are working to organize a ministry fair on March 7. This will be held in the basement during the Sunday school hour.
Dennis Crowder reminded us that although the Beyond Bricks logo is retired from this publication, the remaining commitments are expected to be completed in the first half of 2010. These will be paid on the principle of the indebtedness.
Steve Meek gave an excellent overview of the financial picture at Berry's Chapel. The total amount given in 2009 for Beyond Bricks, Honduras special contribution, Family Care Fund, and weekly contributions totaled more than $1 million. Berry's Chapel is a generous congregation. The budget for 2010 needs $15,321 each week for operations and payment on the building debt. The average contributions in 2009 were $13,379 leaving a gap of almost $2,000 per week. The elders, preachers, deacons, and ministry leaders have pledged all but $422 of this. With an average attendance of about 400 surely God will bless each of us to provide that extra dollar.
Steve closed with the following encouragement:
> You Will Be Blessed
> You Will Grow Spiritually
> The Lord Will Provide the Increase
> We Cannot Out Give God
Malachi 3:10 “Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”
